Low-sodium Diet
Specific guidelines to follow include:
- Refrain from adding salt (table, onion, garlic salt, monosodium glutamate/MSG, baking soda, soy sauce) to your cooking or at the table.
- Avoid soup unless you either make it without bouillon or you buy a brand with less than 250 mg per serving.
- When eating out, as how the food is prepared, and request that your order be made without salt, MSG, creams, sauces, V-8 juices, or cheese.
